internalised military metaphors

In this video Let's talk about what spears can teach us about creating change....
The metaphor is one of violence. This scares me. Is the metaphor of military object for social change useful? OR does it simply repeat the problem and at the same time play into the hands of those with the biggest spears?
Another scary things in the video, 'to get that idea into normal political discussion.' OK what is 'that' idea? apparently , 'people who are not 100% ideologicaly pure.' suggests that the author knows that idea is and is not and that the tip of the change spear can be 'pure'. Hmm. What is 'normal', and what 'political discussion' actually has influence?
I wonder if the author has looked at Habermas's idea of the public sphere or Nancy Fraser's ideas of those with less voice in the sphere because they aren't men (or other *subaltern* public)?
Come on, please lets deconstruct dominator culture already.
Is there perhaps another way?
