I was trying to make a joke about creating an instance full of catfishing using 'asl' as the punchline, but it just came off like I was making fun of the deaf and hard of hearing community...
the first computer in the household was an Hitachi Peach! 🍑 I learned to program Basic on it and built a space shooter game that I sold the source code to another person for $80. It was a business associate of my Dad and I think my Dad gave him the money. 🤭
Bi bong bi bong bi khhhkhhkkkkkhkkshhhttttnnkclclxlxxchhh okay I'm not doing that very well but just imagine I'm making the noise that modems used to make.
computers weren't equipped with millennial numbers, and it was about to break everything. Everyone had to retool everything before the deadline, but they made it.
So of course it didn't happen you ungrateful caramel!
the scariest thing right now, for me, is the realisation that I know my number and password and the service is still running (just logged in and it all just still works).
I installed the OS on my first computer by installing Windows 95 from a stack of floppy disks and then popping in a Windows ME upgrade CD. The BSoD was randomly my new best friend until I eventually figured out how to do a clean install.
Sounds great. Not sure I remember my password for mine but the number I do (and it's the one and only messaging number I've added to my LinkedIn profile for some reason 😂)
@spyro It belongs to a russian company now, maybe thats why. (from Wikipedia: "Originally developed by the Israeli company Mirabilis in 1996, the client was bought by AOL in 1998, and then by Mail.Ru Group (now VK) in 2010.")

Ok weird - it "still exists"...
Some slight oddities though - including where it's being used...
Screenshots show ICQ-new website and its general audience - primarily russia?
